SUMMARY:Macclesfield Fire Station Open Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year our fire stations open their doors to the public, welcoming people of all ages in their communities to connect with their local firefighters.\nThe open days are free entry and you can be guaranteed that there will be something there for all the family including live firefighter and/or fire cadet demonstrations,  fire appliances, free safety advice and much more…\n\n\n\n\nChip pan demonstration\nWe use the chip pan display unit to reconstruct the effects of careless use of chip pans. It’s a dramatic, visual reminder of why chip pans can be so dangerous and why we suggest swapping them out for safer options. Oil is heated up and then a firefighter wearing full protective clothing adds water which creates a ball of fire.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVintage fire engines\nWe have a fleet of vintage fire engines, our Heritage Fleet, with the oldest dating back to 1850 and some of them could well be making an appearance at an open day near you. Currently our Heritage Fleet is lovingly cared for by a team of volunteers who not only bring vintage fire engines to open days but also take them to shows and events around the county.\n\n\n\nFire cadet drills\nFire cadets learn the basic skills of a firefighter while participating in a wide range of activities in and around their local fire station. They often run drills on station open days to show off what they learn as a fire cadet.\nFirefighter displays\nFirefighters are called to emergency incidents which range vastly by nature. In order to respond effectively firefighters regularly hone their skills, training through practice scenarios of incidents they may be called to. At a fire station open day you will get to watch the experts perform a training scenario while you get to watch on.\nDisplays range from ladder drills which simulate rescuing casualties from buildings to road traffic demonstrations simulating a car crash with people trapped inside a vehicle. If you’re lucky you may even get to witness our line rescue experts dangling high up, showcasing their ability to resolve incidents at height.\nFire engines\nWe have a fleet of vehicles designed to effectively respond to a wide range of incidents, emergencies and rescues. Naturally we have plenty of the ‘big red trucks with blue lights’ that you will regularly see. We also have specialist vehicles to be used at specific incidents such as wildfires, rescues from height and more.\nPartner agencies\nWe work with many partner agencies, some of whom may attend and take part in station open days. Partner agencies include Cheshire Police, Territorial Army, local charities, your local authority, historic society, food bank, The Prince’s Trust and more.\nActivities\nWhen arranging open days we try to include a wide range of activities such as face painters, a DJ or entertainer, a stand for The Fire Fighters Charity with ice cream and merchandise, the Women’s Institute and more.\nRoad safety\nEvery year we attend hundreds of road traffic collisions, rescuing drivers and their passengers and providing emergency first aid and trauma care.\nRoad traffic collisions can be devastating, not only to those involved, but also to their friends and loved ones. Please visit our road safety page ( https://www.cheshirefire.gov.uk/your-safety/road-safety/ ) to make sure you are keeping yourself and your loved ones safe on the road, no matter how you travel.\nSEN hour\nOur open days are open to everyone, and we fully understand that some people may find the noise of sirens and flashing lights overwhelming. Many of our station open days will feature SEN hours when firefighters and staff will be able to spend time with people with hidden disabilities to create a more supportive and inclusive environment accessible to all. Then, should an emergency situation occur in their homes, they will have had initial contact with the emergency services.\n

SUMMARY:Crewe Fire Station Open Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year our fire stations open their doors to the public, welcoming people of all ages in their communities to connect with their local firefighters.\nThe open days are free entry and you can be guaranteed that there will be something there for all the family including live firefighter and/or fire cadet demonstrations,  fire appliances, free safety advice and much more…\n\n\n\n\nChip pan demonstration\nWe use the chip pan display unit to reconstruct the effects of careless use of chip pans.
